Privacy Policy
FishLogAI — Last updated: April 28, 2026
Introduction
FishLogAI (“the App”) is a lobster fishing log and nautical chart application
designed for commercial lobster fishermen in New England. Your privacy is important to us.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your
choices regarding your data.
Information We Collect
FishLogAI is designed with a local-first approach. All of your data stays
on your device. We do not operate user accounts, cloud databases, or servers that receive
your personal data.
-
Fishing Log Data: Haul records you enter (coordinates, trap counts,
catch numbers, depth, bottom type, bait type, and notes) are stored locally on your
device using on-device storage (SQLite). This data is never transmitted to external servers.
-
Device Location: The App requests access to your device’s GPS
to auto-fill coordinates when logging hauls and to plot your position on the nautical
chart. Location data is used only within the App and is not shared with any third party.
-
Camera Access: If you use the logbook scanning feature, the App accesses
your camera or photo library to capture images of handwritten log pages. Images are
processed to extract fishing data and are not stored on or transmitted to external servers.
-
Daily Notes: Any daily notes you enter (lobster prices, bait usage,
weather observations) are stored locally on your device.
How We Use Your Information
All data you enter into FishLogAI is used solely to provide the App’s core functionality:
- Displaying your haul locations on NOAA nautical charts
- Calculating catch statistics, trends, and insights
- Generating CSV exports when you request them
- Showing tide, moon phase, and weather information relevant to your fishing area
We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose other than
providing the features described above.
Data Storage and Retention
Your fishing log data is stored locally on your device only, using SQLite
on iOS and Android. We do not maintain any central database or cloud storage of your fishing
records. No user data is transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Your data is retained on your device for as long as the App is installed. If you delete the
App, all locally stored data will be permanently removed from your device. Since we do not
store any user data on servers, there is no cloud data to retain or delete.
Third-Party Services
The App connects to the following external services to provide functionality. These services
receive only the geographic coordinates necessary to return relevant data. No personal
information or fishing log data is shared with any of these services.
-
Apple StoreKit (In-App Purchases): Subscription payments for FishLogAI
Pro are processed entirely through Apple’s App Store using StoreKit. We do not
collect, store, or have access to your payment card details or billing information.
Subscription management (including cancellation and renewal) is handled through your
App Store account settings.
-
NOAA Chart Display Service / ENC Online: Nautical chart tiles are loaded
from NOAA’s public servers to display navigational charts of U.S. waters.
-
Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS): Nautical chart tiles for Canadian
waters (Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia) are loaded from CHS public servers.
-
NOAA Tides & Currents: Tide prediction data is fetched from NOAA’s
public API for your selected tide station.
-
Open-Meteo: Sea surface temperature data is retrieved from the Open-Meteo
public weather API based on your fishing coordinates.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data or fishing records with any third parties.
Your data leaves your device only when you explicitly choose to export it (for example, via
CSV export through the iOS share sheet).
Children’s Privacy
FishLogAI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children.
Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access the data stored on your device through the App’s export features
- Delete all your data by uninstalling the App
- Disable location services for the App through your device’s Settings at any time
- Cancel your subscription through your App Store account settings
Because all data is stored locally on your device and we do not maintain any server-side
records, you have full control over your data at all times.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this
page with an updated “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page
periodically.
